The National Monuments Service's description
Late 18th-century house described by Bence-Jones (1978, 276) as entrance front (S) of '2-storey 8-bay centre with wings of 5 bays on either side, beyond which are shallow curved bows each with 3 windows...central single-storey Doric portico; the wings have round-headed windows'. Rear of 3 storeys. Demolished c. 1989; inscribed stone found during demolition read 'John Roche 1790'. Several estate features survive including gate-lodge, triumphal arch half way up avenue, walled garden, Roche's Tower (6104). Free-standing square chimney (H c. 15m; Wth 2.13m;) c. 450m to N of house; base stone-built, upper 9m brick-built; according to local information, part of gas works which provided light for house.
