The National Monuments Service's description
On gravel ridge in marshy field. Uncovered during gravel quarrying by mechanical digger. Excavated by Murphy (1961, 65-66) who found long stone-lined cist, long axis ENE-WSW (L 1.94m; max. Wth 0.5m; max. H 0.26m); narrowing towards E end. At W end capstones rested on upright side stones, which leaned outwards; at E end small thin slabs were placed resting against feet and legs. Remains of human skeleton found; bone report suggests 'man in late middle life'.
