The National Monuments Service's description
Late 18th century, 2-storey house; hipped roof with 2 off-centre chimneys. Entrance front (W) of 7 bays; central round-headed doorway with fanlight behind porch. Rear has 2-storey gabled projections on N and S sides giving U-shaped ground plan; also central hipped-roof stairway projection. Date plaque on S elevation inscribed 'This house was built by James Tynte Smyth Esq. of Rathcoursey 1773 A.D.'. Courtyard enclosed by farm building to N.
