The National Monuments Service's description

Late 18th century 3-storey rectangular house, built by Newenhams, named 'Summer Hill' on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Entrance front (S) of 5 bays; string course between floors; central porch late 19th century in appearance. E and W elevations consist of 1-bay bow with 2 bays to rear; N face obscured by extensions. Sprocketed hipped roof with carved limestone cornice; one off-centre chimney survives. Outbuilding to rear appears to be earlier than main house, with steeply pitched gabled roof and concave cornice. Now an institution.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
