The National Monuments Service's description
Four spreads of heat-shattered stones and charcoal-enriched soil, likely to have been connected to each other, were discovered during archaeological monitoring in advance of the construction of the N22 Ballincollig Bypass and were excavated in 2002. The largest spread measured 5.6m x 2.1m and had a maximum depth of 0.07m. A single oval pit (1.2m; 0.7m; D 0.2m), filled with heat-shattered stones and charcoal-enriched soil, was found beneath the largest spread. This is one of a group of six fulachtaí fia and burnt mounds (CO073-137----, CO073-140----, CO073-141----, CO073-142----, CO073-143----) which were excavated here, the closest of which are a possible burnt mound (CO073-140----) c. 20m to the SE and a fulacht fia (CO073-143----) c. 20m to the S. (Russell 2004c, 77, site 3; 2004d, 12-13)
