The National Monuments Service's description
On grounds of Lee Valley golf course on SW-facing slope. Most southerly of two conjoined ringforts (CO072-112002-). Circular raised area (c. 30m E-W; 30m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.6m; ext. H 2.7m) SSE->N; to NE separated from interior of conjoined site (CO072-112002-) by low rise; low scarp elsewhere. External fosse (D 0.8m) survives to SSW for short section; rough surface in area of fosse to S and SW->N due to infilling. Interior saucer-shaped and planted with coniferous trees; raised on S and W sides to compensate for hillslope. Limekiln depicted at S bank on 1842 OS 6-inch map; no visible surface trace.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
