Ecclesiastical enclosure

In level pasture, on W side of stream. Low earthen bank (max. H 1.5m) encloses gable-shaped area (c. 70m N-S; c. 40m E-W; apex of gable facing N); very low ridge (H c. 0.2m) crosses enclosure where angle of 'gable' meets straight sides; mid-way along W side short section of very low bank extends into interior. Mid-way along E side, sod-covered remains of subrectangular structure (c. 15.2m E-W; c. 12.9m N-S), possibly a church, project into interior; its E side is incorporated into bank of larger enclosure. Interior of latter very undulating but no discernible gravemarkers here or elsewhere on site. Known locally as "An Teampall" and possibly site of Cill na Cluaine, a site associated with St. Finbarr (Bolster 1972, 14-5).
