The National Monuments Service's description
Following archaeological testing and monitoring on the N25 Youghal Bypass a circular pit (0.45m N-S; 0.41m E-W; D 0.21m) was excavated in 2001. The two fills were of a similar compact, blackish, silty clay and contained small fire-cracked stones and flecks of charcoal. A carbon sample produced a date of 1490-1200 cal. BC (Noonan 2003g, 56).
