The National Monuments Service's description
One of two burnt pits (see CO067-080001-) and an area of rake-out material that were excavated in 2001 following archaeological testing and monitoring on the N25 Youghal Bypass. This, the larger of the pits (1.3m N-S; 1m E-W; D 0.31m) was subcircular in plan and its primary fill appeared to be a charcoal-rich lens of material. Both pits showed signs of oxidisation, indicating exposure to heat. The spread (0.6m N-S; 0.4m) of rake-out material also showed signs of oxidisation. (Noonan 2001a; 2003g, 55-6)
