The National Monuments Service's description

In pasture, on break in N-facing slope. Circular area (diam. c. 30m) enclosed by collapsed stone wall (H 0.8m) crowning rock outcrop. Wall survives best to NE, ESE and SW->NNW where external batter is evident. From SSE->SW man-made scarp of dumped stone (H 3.7m) provides base for wall; natural scarp elsewhere. Possible entrance (Wth 2.2m) to SE. Fosse (D 1m) at base of scarp SE->SW, possibly continuing to NW. Interior split level; caused by E-W ridge of rock outcrop in S half.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
