The National Monuments Service's description
In field to N of Desert graveyard (CO054-031002-). Aerial photograph (CASAP, 1986) shows curving arc (shadow mark) in field to N of Desert graveyard (CO054-031002-) of what appears to be large levelled enclosure around the graveyard. Power (1923, 172) noted 'remains of an ancient causeway, the Cliadh Buidhe, leading to church, in bog to E of graveyard'; this area now forrested.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
