The National Monuments Service's description

To S of centre of graveyard (CO045-053001-) are the fragmentary remains of an apparently rectangular church (c. 8m E-W; c. 6.45m N-S) bounded to W by a mound of rubble but overgrown traces of N, S and E walls evident (max. H 0.8m). According to Power (1918, 213), remains of 'early church and graveyard' known locally as 'Carraig na Cille', though named 'Killawillin Church' on the OS 6-inch map.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
