The National Monuments Service's description
Approached by laneway from N, on S bank of Bride river, 400m S of Bridebridge village. Square graveyard (c. 60m NE-SW; c. 60m NW-SE) bounded by sheer drop to N and elsewhere by low stone-faced earthen bank overgrown with ash and elder. Interior divided by farm track crossing from N to S corners. Interior uneven and covered by ground vegetation; depression near centre (D c. 3m) shows evidence of relatively recent quarrying. No visible gravemarkers. To S of centre fragmentary remains of apparently rectangular church (c. 8m E-W; c. 6.45m N-S) (CO045-053002-) bounded to W by mound of rubble but overgrown traces of N, S and E walls evident (max. H 0.8m). According to Power (1918, 213), remains of 'early church and graveyard' known locally as 'Carraig na Cille', though named 'Killawillin Church' on OS 6-inch map.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
