The National Monuments Service's description
A spread of heat-shattered stones and charcoal-enriched soil was uncovered during testing in advance of the construction of the N8 Rathcormac-Fermoy Bypass. Subsequent excavation in 2003 revealed the minimum extent (7m x 6.5m) of a mound which overlay an oval trough (2m x 1.8m), three pits and 33 stake-holes some of which may have been the remains of structures. Another fulacht fia (CO044-082----) lies c. 50m to the NNE on the opposite side of a stream. (Murphy 2004, 88, Lisnagar Demesne 2; 2006o, 64-5, Lisnagar Demesne 2)
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).
