The National Monuments Service's description
In a coniferous forest. Heat-shattered stones and charcoal-enriched soil were exposed in a forest drain prior to tree planting (Kiely 2000b, 1-3). No further ground disturbance took place in the vicinity of this possible burnt mound and a buffer zone of 15m was established around the monument.
