In tillage, atop hill. Depicted as hachured subsquare enclosure on 1842 OS 6-inch map; as roughly circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on 1904 and 1938 OS 6-inch maps; external fosse hachured to S on 1938 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; circular area (29m E-W; 28m N-S) defined by band of light coloured stoney soil (Wth 2.6m). Interior soil cover darker in colour than surrounding field. Circular enclosure visible as shadow site of fosse, most clearly visible to S, in aerial photograph (CASAP). Recorded by Bowman (1934, 539-40) as single-ramparted fort (diam. 31yd) on P. O'Callaghan's land, defined by bank (H c. 8ft) with external fosse (Wth 14ft; D 3ft). In Barry's (1981, 83, no. 46) list of moated sites for County Cork, from cartographic evidence.
