The National Monuments Service's description
On S side of main street in Mallow; formerly approached by avenue from street but this now converted to public road. Subrectangular graveyard (c. 85m E-W; c. 60m N-S), lined by mature trees. Enclosed to N by stone wall and N wall of ruin of former C of I parish church of Mallow (14719), to E and S by partially rebuilt stone wall; open to W where present C of I parish church and hall stand. Unpublished report (Anon. 1976, 8) notes church papers dated 1692 referring to agreement to build walls around precincts of church; Bolster (1971, 12) refers to graveyard once extending c. 50m further to N and to E. Interior slopes down noticeably to S. Earliest headstone noted dated 1684; headstones generally date from early 18th to 19th century; also contains a number of chest tombs, concentrated in NW corner. Earliest memorial inside ruined church (14719) dated 1595; inscribed stone plaque dated 1649 inserted in N wall. Architectural fragments and dressed stone noted in graveyard (Zajac et al. 1995, 75). Gravemarkers indexed during Fas Scheme (Mallow Heritage Centre 1990, 141-162).
