The National Monuments Service's description

According to Grove White (1905-25, vol. 4, 184), site of 'old church' close by Roskeen House...'a few stones of the walls remain. The site is enclosed and carefully preserved.' Bowman (1934, 675) recorded 'site of church' in field called 'Pairc na Cille. No sign of this church is now to be seen.' According to local information, burial ground was immediately to W of house; bones were found there in 1960s. No visible surface trace of church or burial ground. This might be site of Roskeen parish church, which was in ruins in 1615 (Brady 1863, vol. 2, 139) but probably disappeared shortly afterwards.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
