The National Monuments Service's description
In W half of ringfort (CO030-020---); indicated by small depression. According to local information, two stone-built beehive-shaped chambers joined by creepway were exposed c. 1980; subsequently infilled. Bowman (1934, 515-6) noted 'on the S.W. just inside the inner rampart, is a depression, 15 ft. by 8 by 2 ft. deep. This is the Site of the Souterrain (or cave) which gave name to the fort'.
