In pasture atop ridge, commanding extensive view all round. Circular, heavily overgrown area (diam. c. 35m) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.8m; ext. H 0.9m); external fosse (D 0.8m). Causewayed entrance (Wth 2m) to NNW. Large earthen mound (H c. 1.5m) in S half of interior may be remains of two lime kilns depicted on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Field boundary skirts enclosure to N, E and S. Recorded by Bowman (1934, 296-7) as double-ramparted fort on J. O'Keeffe's land, with about half of outer rampart standing (H 6 to 9ft); two disused lime kilns in outer rampart and one in inner rampart (ibid.). Possible souterrain (CO029-185---) in interior.
