The National Monuments Service's description
Situated immediately E of an eroded section face on the E foreshore of Scattery Island and 10m NW of the end of a sea wall (CL067-024023-). The feature was uncovered during metal detecting as part of a foreshore assessment. The metal (Wth 0.04m; L 0.24m) uncovered was very corroded and unidentifiable. It was in a possible stone setting or pit (diam. 0.38m). (Dunne and Ryan 2001, 14)
