The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on the E shore of Scattery Island, this graveyard comprises a trapezoidal area (dims. c. 52m E-W; 27-44m N-S) defined by a masonry wall (H c. 0.5-1m). The burials date from c. 1810 to 1999, but most of the headstones have been removed, especially in the area to the W of the church which has been seeded. Those to the S have been laid flat on the gravelled ground. A medieval church ‘Templenamarve’ (CL067-024010-) lies within and there are recumbent slabs inside the church. This is the only graveyard on the island where people from the mainland were also buried. A foreshore report in 2000 (00E0281) recorded human remains visible in the section immediately E of the graveyard. (Dunne 2003, 23, no. 94-5).
This is a national monument in state care, no. 10.
