The National Monuments Service's description

On the N bank of the Shannon estuary adjacent to Quay Island. Described by O’Sullivan (2001, 306) as a post-medieval ‘wooden jetty in estuarine clays S of Quay Island. Two rows of vertical posts, c. 26m in exposed length, possibly curves around to E below low water. Vertical posts, 15-25cm in diameter, spaced at intervals of 1.5-2m. February 1997.'
