The National Monuments Service's description

Recorded (L c. 600m) on the first edition of the OS 6-inch map (1842) and similarly recorded on the OS 25-inch plan (1893) but with a short section (L c. 60) no longer apparently in use: a broad road or trackway (est. Wth 6-7m) is recorded running NNE from the ‘Cabhail Mór’, a 17th-century bawn (CL017-056---- / from c. ITM 526934 691419) for c. 160m (to c. ITM 526967 691570) and turning sharply W to run W and then WSW for c. 440m to where it meets the ESE-flowing River Fergus (at c ITM 526537 691506). There may have been a ford or bridging point (or ferry?) near its terminus since across the river, c. 200m to the W, another lane is recorded running S from the opposite bank of the Fergus.

The later, Cassini edition (1920) of the OS 6-inch map shows a long section (L c. 440m) both partially removed and fallen into disuse but also records a substantial surviving section (L c. 160m) running NNE from the ‘Cabhail Mór’ (CL017-056----). When inspected in 1998, this section was found to be bordered along its W side by a drystone wall (H 1.2m) and while the opposite E side boundary had been removed, the route of the track (Wth 3-4m), though overgrown, was still obviously visible at ground level. The line of the road or trackway running W and then WSW (L c. 440m) is still largely preserved in overgrown field boundary walls.
