The National Monuments Service's description
Situated 40m NW of Leamaneh fortified house (CL016-032003-) towards bottom of a N-facing slope and probably associated. Named ‘Gate Piers’ in Gothic script on the 1916 OS 6-inch map. Two piers, 2.95m apart, of dressed and mortared limestone blocks. The W pier (H 2.05m; T 0.82m N-S, 0.92m E-W) is complete with a rebate on the S side with a hanging eye. The E pier (H 1.24m) is not complete. There is a shot-hole for a simple latch in its rebate. The piers were attached to walls (T 0.82m) extending W and E of them and they don’t stand proud of those walls to either the N or S. This arrangement is similar to piers 400m to the N (CL016-020032-) with which these may be associated.
