The National Monuments Service's description

On a S-facing slope in bog overlooking Luogh Lough c. 200m to the W and the sea beyond that. Listed by Ó Nualláin (1989, 133) as 'Ballycotteen North (CL. 125) with a reference to 'Megalithic Survey Files'. The location was noted on OSi MapGenie 2013-2018 orthophotos and was verified on the ground on inspection in 2023. The location shown in the RMP (1996) was a good distance to the W. Two sidestones remain. They formed a chamber opening to the W (Wth 1.82m at W; 1.34m at E). The N sidestone (L 1.93m; H at W 0.37m; H at E 0.3m; T 0.09m) leans slightly to the S. The longer S stone (L 3.37m; H at W 0.88m; H at E 0.55m; T 0.15m) also leans slightly to S. No other stones remained. A very large boulder lies 40m to the N but may not be associated.
