The National Monuments Service's description

In the NE sector of a cashel (CL010-091001-), just NE of centre. Indicated as a rectangular structure and labelled ‘Dermot & Grania’s Bed’ on both the first (1842) and later, Cassini (1920) editions of the OS 6-inch map. Listed as ‘Hut site (possible)’ in the RMP (1996). This subrectangular hut site (4.5m NE-SW; 1.5m NW-SE (de Valera and Ó Nualláin 1961, 94); int. Wth 1.15m at SW, widening to 1.9m at NE) is defined by a wall of fairly regular blocks, with a straight inner wall-face (max. H 0.8m). The wall is lowest at the NE end. Westropp (1905, 216) noted that there was only one slab in this wall ‘set on end’. He (ibid.) also mentioned an ‘oblong foundation’ within the hut site’s interior, the surface of which was 1.21m below the surrounding ground level in the cashel. On inspection in 1999, the hut site’s interior was full of rubble. Partly overlying the SW edge of this hut site is a subcircular feature (int. diam. 2.5-3.5m) defined by an earth and stone bank (max. Wth 2m; H 0.6m).
