The National Monuments Service's description
On level scrub and hazel-covered ground with some more open pasture to the E and higher (H c. 3-4m) limestone pavement rising c. 30m to the W. Indicated on the first edition (1842) of the OS 6-inch map – which shows a road (since disused) running SW-NE across the W interior - and hachured on the later, Cassini edition (1920) of the map. Listed as ‘Enclosure’ in the RMP (1996). This hazel-covered subcircular cashel (int. dims. 24.1m ENE-WSW; 21.9m NNW-SSE; ext. dims. 31.5m ENE-WSW; 31.1m NNW-SSE) is defined by a double-faced stone wall (Wth 1.5m) which survives at SSE; elsewhere wall-facing is only visible intermittently within the wall tumble (av. Wth 3.4-3.8m; max. Wth 5.8m at N; int. H 0.6-0.7m; ext. H c. 0.3-0.4m). The tumble is most substantial WSW-N and almost entirely absent E-S. There is a possible original entrance gap (Wth 3m) at the NNE. A drystone field wall is built on the collapsed cashel wall NNE-ESE, with other field walls running off from this drystone wall to NNE and E. There is an animal gap at the SE, and another probable modern gap (Wth 3m) at the WSW.
The first edition (1842) of the OS 6-inch map depicts a second ringfort (CL010-085002-) abutting the cashel at E.
