The National Monuments Service's description

On the NW shoulder of a high (between the 500’ and 600’ contours) ridge in rough pasture, overlooking the Castletown River valley SW-W-NW, with ground rising up steeply to the S and SE. Within an extensive multiperiod field system (CL010-064001-). Indicated on the OS 25-inch plan (1897) and the Cassini edition (1920) of the OS 6-inch map. Listed as ‘Enclosure’ in the RMP (1996). This subrectangular cashel (int. dims. 38m NNW-SSE; 32m ENE-WSW) is defined by a double-faced stone wall (Wth 1-1.1m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 0.7-1.2m) built of uncoursed but regular blocks. A later field wall is built over the cashel perimeter. The SE quadrant (int. dims. 22m E-W; max. 6m N-S) of the rocky and uneven interior is enclosed by a curving stony bank (Wth 2m; H 0.7m) and within this subdivision are two oval cells or animal pens (int. dims. c. 4m N-S; 2m E-W). A hut site (CL010-243----) lies c. 82m to the SSW.
