The National Monuments Service's description
Situated at the SW side of a bawn (CL010-027001-), against the bawn wall. Marked as a rectangular structure on the 1842 and 1920 eds. of the OS 6-inch map. Listed as ‘Dwelling’ in the RMP (1996). Documented by Ua Cróinín and Breen (1996, 8), this medieval house (8m NE-SW; 6.4m NW-SE) was defined on three sides by well-preserved mortared stone walls (Wth 0.8m; H c. 3m); the bawn wall closed the house’s SW side. There was an opening in the middle of the SE wall. Three cantilever steps were built in the exterior of the NW wall. The steps continued in the adjacent bawn wall. Due to this and because the house’s SW side was also incorporated in the bawn wall, Ua Cróinín and Breen (ibid.) concluded that the house and bawn were built at the same time. An inspection of the house in 1999 found it unaltered in the interim.
