The National Monuments Service's description
Abutting the S limits of a large, prehistoric enclosure (CL010-015001-) on the SE-facing slopes of a steep-sided, N-S ridge in rough pasture and limestone pavement, and containing a souterrain (CL010-015003-) which incorporates a natural cave (CL010-015004-). All lie within an extensive multiperiod field system (CL009-084001-). Indicated on the 1840 and 1916 editions of the OS 6-inch map.
A subcircular area (max. ext. diams. c. 35m NW-SE; c. 33m NE-SW; int. diams) is defined by a faint bank which is overlain by a later, drystone wall (T 0.5-0.7m) which acts as a townland boundary wall NNE-E-S. The interior slopes to the S and SE and is level in the SE sector which contains some clearance cairns.
The site was recorded as ‘C-170’ by Gibson (2007, 2) who noted that the wall ‘rests upon the rubble and standing sections of an earlier, thicker wall of coursed construction’ and that the presence of a souterrain (CL010-015003-) ‘indicates a potential Early-Medieval date’ for the monument.
