The National Monuments Service's description

On high ground in pasture, with exposed karst to the N and W and with good views to the N. Within an extensive multiperiod field system (CL005-160001-). Hachured on the 1840 and 1916 eds. of the OS 6-inch maps. Listed as ‘Enclosure’ in the RMP (1996).
A roughly circular cashel (ext. dims. 25m N-S; c. 23m E-W; int. dims. 20m N-S; 19m E-W) defined by a drystone wall and a scarped bank (Wth 3m; ext. H 0.7-1.3m) from NNE to NE with a later field wall inside it from NE to SSW. The cashel wall is best preserved from WSW to NNE where an outer facing of rough flat flags (H 1m) survives to a few courses in height. An inner wall-facing is visible at WNW (H 0.25m) where the original wall thickness is preserved (T 1.5m). At N and NNE, flat lintels (L 1.8m; H 0.7m) form an outer wall-facing and similar lintels have fallen out of the wall at NNW. The interior of the cashel is uneven and there is a souterrain (CL010-008002-) near the centre. A potentially contemporary structure lies in the NW quadrant (est. int. dims. 9.17m NE-SW; 4.7m NW-SE) and there are two collapsed, later animal pens in the NW and SW quadrants. The later field wall extending NE and SW from the cashel curves outwards along the line of the cashel wall.
