The National Monuments Service's description

On a slight rise in a plateau, with wide views E–S, in rough pasture and hazel within a relict field system (CL009-022001-). Hachured on the OS 25-inch plan (1897) and the 1920 ed. of the OS 6-inch map; on the latter it is labelled ‘Lisnagowan’. Listed as ‘Earthwork’ in the RMP (1996). A subcircular area (int. dims. c. 15.3m N–S; c. 14.5m E–W; ext. dims. 19.8m E–W; 14.3m N–S) defined by a double-faced drystone wall (Wth 1.5–2m; int. H 1–1.2m; ext. H 0.8–1.6m) built of large horizontally laid blocks, where visible. Grass-covered rubble is banked against the wall on the interior (Wth 0.9–3.8m; H 0.8–1.2m) and exterior (Wth 1.4–3.2m; H 0.5–1.2m). The now-blocked probable entrance (Wth 1.2m) is at the SE, its S side delineated by three blocks (L 1.3m) laid on top of each other. There is a modern cattle entrance (Wth 0.6m) at W. An extensive area c. 10m to the W has been cleared by machine and a barrier of spoil separates the cashel from the clearance. Another cashel (CL009-022005-) lies c. 25m to the NE.
