Situated in hazel scrub on a small but steep knoll in the Caher valley and within a multiperiod field system (CL005-014001-). Hachured on the 1840 ed. of the OS 6-inch map c. 20m to the SW. Depicted as a segmented field on the 1916 ed. Listed as an enclosure in the RMP (1996). Westropp (1901, 17) described this cashel as ‘a well-built caher of large blocks on a steep knoll; the garth is level with the top of the wall, which is from 5 feet to 7 feet high, but much gapped and defaced as a modern house and enclosure stand beside it’.
A poorly preserved circular cashel (diam. 26m) defined by an externally faced and battered uncoursed wall (Wth 2.3-2.7m) built of large undressed limestone blocks, only visible from E to W. A possible entrance (Wth 2m) is located at E. A later building abuts the outer wall-face at ENE and several walls within the S half of the interior are likely to be associated with this.
