The National Monuments Service's description

On a NW-facing terrace in karst landscape on the NW slopes of Knockaunsmountain with commanding views N-W and within an extensive multiperiod field system (CL004-016001-). A roughly circular, collapsed cairn (ext. dims. c. 8m E-W; c. 7.7m N-S) defined by a raised plinth with a possible opening in the NW and possible kerbs located in the SE. A later stone shelter has been built in the NNE extent of the cairn. A cashel (CL004-017----) is located c. 55m to the NNE.
