The National Monuments Service's description
On a high (between 700’ and 800’ contours) level, terrace with commanding views over lower land and Galway bay from SW to NNW and with higher ground rising away to the E and SE. Within a large field system (CL004-027001-). Indicated on the first edition (1842) of the OS 6-inch map and shown partially hachured on the later Cassini edition (1915). Listed as ‘enclosure’ in the RMP (1996). Described by Westropp (1901, 11) as ‘almost completely destroyed’.
An almost circular area (int. diams. 22.7m E-W; 20.6m N-S) is defined mainly by a bank of earth and stone (Wth 2.5-4.5m at base; ext. H 0.3-1.2m; int. H 0.3-0.15m) which is low at E and ENE and poorly preserved from WNW-NNE. Outer wall facing stones survive from S to W (max. H 0.5m). A later field wall runs NNW-SSE across the W-interior. A narrow sheepfold, recorded on the OS 25-inch map, abuts the outer limits of the monument at NE.
