The National Monuments Service's description

On raised ground c. 180m E of the foreshore, with commanding views from S–N and within a field system (CL004-102----). Overlooked by slightly higher ground c. 50m to the E. Hachured on the 1842 and 1915 eds. of the OS 6-inch maps. Listed as ‘Enclosure’ in the SMR (1992) and the RMP (1996). A poorly preserved subcircular cashel (ext. dims. 30m E–W; 29m N–S) defined by a low spread of stone (Wth 4–5m; int. H 0.5–1m) with occasional outer facing-stones visible to the N, E and SW (max. H 0.6m). Robinson (1977) recorded a souterrain in this cashel, however, none was identified during the field visit (1997) and some exposed pavement in the WNW sector may have been mistakenly interpreted as one. A later field wall has been built on the cashel from NNE–E and S–SW. There is another cashel c. 60m to the N (CL004-006----) and two enclosures, one c. 150m to the NE (CL004-008----) and the other c. 180m to the ESE (CL004-010----). Several of the field walls surrounding this cashel and its neighbour (CL004-006----) may be ancient.
