The National Monuments Service's description
Not listed in the SMR (1992) or the RMP (1996). On the SW shore of Aughinish island at Aughinish church (CL003-010001-). A shell midden, just under the sod cover (av. D 0.3m), is visible for a length of c. 10m from the W gable of the church. It was exposed following severe storms in January/February 2014. An inspection in 2019 noted further coastal erosion that had revealed deposits of shell extending for up to 40m NW of the church. The deposits are not dense and may have occurred naturally.
