The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, located adjacent to a spring on a rocky terrace on the NW-facing slope of Moneen Mountain. At the N edge of the terrace, 5m to N of the fulacht fia, the ground drops to a lower, narrower terrace. Crescent-shaped, sod-covered mound (c. 10-12m N–S; c. 5-6m E–W; H c. 0.7, 1m at W) composed of a dense concentration of small, limestone fragments in a matrix of dark, charcoal-rich soil. On the E side there is a shallow depression (2m E-W; 1-2m N–S), indicating the location of the trough. It faces an area of wet ground fed by the spring, which rises 6m to SE in a jumble of rocks at the base of the cliff. Located c. 2.5m E of the fulacht fia, there is a low, sod-covered rise of brown soil with an area of darker soil and stone fragments on its NE edge. It was not possible to determine the limits or nature of this deposit. It is possible that it is associated with the activities at the fulacht fia.
