Historique
L'église, la plus ancienne de l'archipel, fut achevée en 1865. La même année,l'empereur Napoléon III fit don d'une splendide peinture, reproduction de « l'Assomption » de Murillo, ornant le fond du choeur. Le plafond de l'église fut partagé, vers 1900-1905, en trois nefs voûtées. Les poteaux qui soutiennent les voûtes provenaient de pièces de bois trouvées sur le rivage. Le clocher est maintenu par deux poteaux : un mât d'une goélette et le grand mât appartenant à une autre goélette. De superbes vitraux du maître verrier Fabien Schultz furent également mis en place.

History
The church, the oldest in the archipelago, was completed in 1865. The ceiling of the church was divided, around 1900-1905, into three vaulted naves. The posts supporting the vaults came from pieces of wood found on the shore. In 1988, a third bell was installed and, in 1989, the grotto situated to the left of the choir was decorated with a painting by artist Yvette Detchevery.
