Conçue par les fonderies Ducel, la fontaine de la Vierge, qui se dresse devant l'église paroissiale de Saint-Paul depuis 1867, fut offerte à la commune par son maire. Au milieu d'un bassin hexagonal posé sur un triple emmarchement de basalte s'élève, sur un socle cantonné de putti chevauchant des dauphins, une statue monumentale de la Vierge à l'enfant. Deux cartouches en signalent la date et le donateur. Cet ensemble présente un intérêt national car La Réunion est l'un des rares départements français, avec le Brésil, à avoir conservé ce type de patrimoine.

History
Designed by the Ducel foundries, the fountain of the Virgin, which stands before the parish church of Saint-Paul since 1867, was offered to the commune by its mayor.
