Historique
L'habitation Loiseau, à Vieux-Habitants, se compose d'une propriété de plus de 5 hectares avec une maison coloniale, une bonifierie et une dépendance. C'est en 1894 qu'Amédée Labique, un homme de couleur libre, grand-oncle du politicien Gratien Candace, déjà propriétaire de deux caféières en altitude, fit l'acquisition par adjudication de la petite propriété Loiseau, située dans le bas de la vallée pour y traiter son café. La maison principale, oeuvre du charpentier Adrien Étienne, a été construite en 1916. Elle fut ensuite achetée par Raymond Guillod. Les principaux bâtiments et équipements de cette habitation-caféière ont été préservés, la roue à aubes pour décerisage, la bonifierie (lieu de torréfaction) et le boucan (lieu de stockage).

History
The Loiseau dwelling, in Vieux-Habitants, comprises a property of more than 5 hectares with a colonial house, a coffee-processing facility and an outbuilding. It was in 1894 that Amédée Labique, a free man of colour, great-uncle of the politician Gratien Candace, already owner of two coffee plantations at altitude, acquired by auction the small Loiseau property, situated in the lower part of the valley, in order to process his coffee there. The main house, work of the carpenter Adrien Étienne, was built in 1916. It was subsequently purchased by Raymond Guillod. The principal buildings and installations of this coffee-processing dwelling have been preserved, the water wheel for de-pulping, the coffee-processing facility (place of roasting) and the boucan (place of storage).
