Ce groupe scolaire, conçu par l'architecte Ali Tur, fait partie de l'ensemble urbain administratif de Lamentin. Il rompt avec l'architecture traditionnelle créole et compte parmi les premiers bâtiments construits en béton armé, en Guadeloupe, dans le style Art Déco. Le bâtiment est de forme simple, selon un plan en U, et comprend un soubassement. La partie centrale, à deux niveaux, est la plus remarquable. Ali Tur y décline ses principes architecturaux : emmarchements soignés, poteaux ronds, garde-corps plein à l'étage sur lequel l'inscription « Groupe scolaire » est appliquée en lettres de béton. La parcelle est fermée par une clôture formée de poteaux carrés assez rapprochés et surmontés d'une boule enchâssée dans une croix horizontale au sommet du poteau.

History
This school group, designed by architect Ali Tur, is part of the administrative urban complex of Lamentin. It breaks with traditional Creole architecture and counts among the first buildings constructed in reinforced concrete, in Guadeloupe, in the Art Deco style. The building is of simple form, according to a U-plan, and comprises a base. The central part, on two levels, is the most remarkable. Ali Tur there sets out his architectural principles: careful stepped arrangements, round posts, solid railings on the storey on which the inscription "Group school" is applied in letters of concrete.
