Ce bâtiment, de proportions harmonieuses, est caractéristique des édifices de style Art Déco du deuxième quart du 20e siècle. Les justices de paix sont des constructions publiques peu fréquentes car cette institution juridique de proximité, instituée en France en 1790, fut supprimée en 1958. Celle de Lamentin, réalisée par l'architecte Ali Tur, accueille la police municipale et l'école de musique. L'édifice, en béton armé, est construit selon un plan carré et comprend un soubassement, un rez-de-chaussée et un étage. History
This building, of harmonious proportions, is characteristic of Art Deco style edifices of the second quarter of the 20th century. The justices of the peace are public constructions that are rarely found because this proximity legal institution, established in France in 1790, was abolished in 1958.
