Fontaine édifiée par les Cisterciens de Royaumont pour approvisionner l'abbaye en eau potable. Contemporaine de la fondation de cette dernière en 1228, la fontaine a subi peu de modifications et est toujours en état de fonctionnement. L'eau est captée sur les collines de Viarmes, dans un bassin de captage souterrain. Elle circule dans une galerie jusqu'à la fontaine proprement dite, petit édifice de pierres au toit à forte pente renfermant un bassin. Une canalisation constituée d'un coffrage de pierres recueille l'eau jusqu'au premier regard, petit édicule carré abritant sous sa voûte un bassin de décantation.

History
Fountain built by the Cistercians of Royaumont to supply the abbey with drinking water. Contemporary with the foundation of the latter in 1228, the fountain has undergone little modification and is still in working order. The water is captured on the hills of Viarmes, in an underground collection basin. It circulates in a gallery to the fountain proper, a small stone building with a steeply pitched roof containing a basin. A pipeline consisting of a stone casing collects the water to the first inspection chamber, a small square edifice sheltering beneath its vault a settling basin.
