En 1963, EDF commande à l'Atelier de Montrouge douze pavillons pour loger les cadres travaillant à la centrale thermique d'Ivry-Port. Les architectes décident de construire deux petites tours reliées par des garages. L'ensemble fut achevé fin 1967. Desservis par un noyau central abritant les circulations verticales, les appartements occupent un étage complet chacun, et sont tous organisés selon le même plan. Seule varie l'orientation de ce plan, qui pivote d'un quart de tour à chaque fois qu'on monte d'un niveau. Ce parti a été mis en oeuvre grâce à une ossature comprenant quatre colonnes et quatre voiles de béton armé filant sur toute la hauteur des bâtiments. Ces édifices sont assez représentatifs de la réflexion menée par l'Atelier de Montrouge dans le domaine du logement collectif.

History
In 1963, EDF commissioned the Atelier de Montrouge with twelve houses to accommodate senior staff working at the Ivry-Port thermal power station. The architects decided to build two small towers connected by garages. The complex was completed in late 1967. Served by a central core containing vertical circulation, the apartments occupy a complete floor each, and are all organised according to the same plan. Only the orientation of this plan varies, which pivots a quarter turn each time one goes up a level. This design was implemented thanks to a structure comprising four columns and four reinforced concrete walls running the full height of the buildings.
