Construite en 1937 par l'entreprise Haour Frères, d'après un projet de la Compagnie Électro-Mécanique, cette soufflerie formait l'élément essentiel du centre d'essais conçu pour les besoins de l'usine Hispano-Suiza. De type Eiffel (comprenant une veine d'air aspirée) , cette soufflerie a cessé ses activités dans les années 1960. Il était possible d'y reproduire les conditions du vol en montée au voisinage du sol. La cigogne de Guynemer, emblème de la firme après la guerre de 14-18, orne le couronnement de la chambre d'expérience. Sa structure en béton armé et enduit est un parallélépipède de 55 mètres sur 16, percé de deux niveaux de baies. Ses formes architecturales reflètent parfaitement sa fonction : un collecteur captant l'air forme un pavillon dans la partie haute de la façade, et se termine par une buse qui débouche sur la chambre d'expérience. Cette dernière constitue un troisième niveau percé de baies verticales et traversée par la veine d'air. History
Built in 1937 by the firm Haour Frères, following a design by the Électro-Mécanique Company, this wind tunnel formed the essential element of the test centre designed for the needs of the Hispano-Suiza factory. Of Eiffel type (comprising an aspired air duct), this wind tunnel ceased operations in the 1960s. It was possible to reproduce the conditions of flight in climb near the ground. Guynemer's stork, emblem of the firm after the 1914-18 war, ornaments the crown of the test chamber. Its reinforced concrete and rendered structure is a parallelepiped of 55 metres by 16, pierced with two levels of openings.
