Historique

History
Château built in the 14th century, then remodelled over the centuries, above a site hollowed out with caves a priori occupied since the Upper Palaeolithic. In 1792, the edifice is sold as national property. Two complete restorations have been carried out, one in 1887 by the architect Ch. Roques, the other from 1893 to 1906 by Auguste Martin. A small wing to the south as well as three towers, are articulated on the main body of lodging of the end of the Middle Ages, marked by neo-Gothic interventions in Troubadour style. Further to the south, a chapel with a single nave was built in the 15th or beginning of the 16th century. A large enclosure wall and a monumental door controlled the south-west flank of the cliff. This wall formed an angle and extended towards the north by incorporating a round tower. To the west also remain the remains of a massive tower.
