L'église construite de 1963 à 1965 par l'architecte Marcel Baudouin en association avec Jacques Laffillee et en étroite collaboration avec le Père de La Rochebrochard est destinée aux trois cités du sud de Poitiers, pour l'accueil de 1000 paroissiens (dont 900 places assises). Ses façades sont entièrement recouvertes de moellons, tandis que son armature est en béton et sa charpente en métal.
