Historique
Hôtel construit en 1933-1934 par l'architecte André Ursault. Sur une base Louis XV, la composition s'articule sur un avant-corps en rotonde accessible par un large escalier monumental demi circulaire. A chaque étage, un retrait ménage une terrasse. La façade sur rue présente un balcon ouvragé avec des consoles biaises, un écusson empanaché et des ferronneries. L'entrée se fait par un porche portant terrasse. Face à la porte d'entrée monumentale se dresse une fresque murale peinte par Govenius et représentant une vue des principaux sites poitevins. A l'intérieur, le hall circulaire ouvre sur deux niveaux et est coiffé d'une coupole en béton pavée de verre. Les surfaces sont traitées dans un style Art Déco.

History
Hotel built in 1933-1934 by the architect André Ursault. On a Louis XV base, the composition is articulated around a rotunda fore-section accessible by a large monumental semi-circular staircase. At each storey, a setback creates a terrace. The street-facing façade presents an ornate balcony with bevelled consoles, a plumed escutcheon and ironwork. The entrance is via a porch bearing a terrace. Facing the monumental entrance door stands a mural fresco painted by Govenius depicting a view of the principal sites of Poitou. Inside, the circular hall opens onto two levels and is topped with a concrete dome paved with glass. The surfaces are treated in an Art Deco style.
